T184- with no Item category of the higher-level item

Hi,

My requirement is when sale order return ( VA01 )happens referring to a billing document , we want the Free goods in the sale order , But do not want the higher level item .

So in copy control I removed the line items from billing document where the quantity is zero , But when I am deleting the higher item the lower item(Free  Goods ) is also getting removed .

After debugging for a long time I found the entry is not maintained in the standard table T184 .

So I maintained an entry using VOV4 with the Item category for the higher level item as  blank .

Now free goods are coming in the return order when we are referring to a billing document . My have completed my requirement .

My concern is I am Unaware of the after effects of this .Is there any problem in maintaining with out an higher level item ???

If so what are they ??? I would be thankful if some one could explain
